This is broken down into hours, minutes, seconds and frames. Hours = 0-23 / Minutes = 0-59 / Seconds = 0-59 / Frames = 0-24 in UK.
Left clicking on the buttons either side of the timecode can be used for:

your web cache. Speckle shows that this is happening. After a short while,
the speckle will be replaced with real content.
When there is a video in either the "Play" (Blue) or the "Record" (Red) window, there is a coloured navigation bar visible underneath it.
This bar shows video and audio around the current frame. Click on the navigation bar to go to the frame you want.

displayed in the "Play" (Blue) window into the "Record" (Red) window. This inserts the selected clip at the current position in the "Record" (Red) window.
Underneath the navigation bar is an active time line. This shows similar information to the navigation bar, but is active,
so you can manipulate it directly with the mouse. The time line and navigation bars can be set to different scales.
There are tracks for comments, slides, chapters and subtitles, as well as video and audio.
The record (Red) window can never be closed down, only the video clips cleared. This action is performed by clicking on the cross.
It has similar controls to the play (Blue) window in the short cut keys. Click on the picture to play and again to pause.

To undo an edit, bring the vertical white line onto the edit and select the create edit point to join two clips together as one if possible. |
 |
Sync button - (Tracks that are in-sync will be displayed with the same colour e.g. Visual and audio tracks when first put on the timeline are the same colour as they are in-sync.) To sync tracks clicking on the padlocked icon will sync selected tracks, this is visible by them becoming the same colour. To un-sync tracks, click on the unlocked padlock and all the selected tracks will become un-synced, indicated by the difference in colour of all the tracks. |
 |
Gaps button - Left click on this will create a gap (the gap is relative to how zoomed in you are on the timeline) between all the tracks that are in-sync at that place in the timeline. Right click will close the gap so that the two tracks are next to each other. |
 |
Create effect button - This creates a dissolve effect between two clips. The dissolve by default is 5 frames in length in each direction. The dissolve can then be extended or shortened depending on artistic preference, this can be done by clicking and dragging on the active timeline double sided trim tool. Currently previewing dissolves can only be done by scrolling frame by frame. If a dissolve is not able to be created between an edit point, it may be that one or both video clips don't have enough extra footage at their source for a dissolve to be implemented. To include a dissolve, one or both clips may need to be made shorter in length. |
 |
Undo button - Left clicking performs an undo command and by right clicking will perform a redo command. The top left hand side of the record timeline titlebar will inform you of the number of changes that have been made. |
You can trim edit points on the timeline by moving the mouse to the edit point and dragging it around. Only selected tracks are trimmed.
You can select tracks by clicking on the icons on the right hand side of the active timeline. Trimming with the right mouse button trims only
the track that the cursor is over.
Saving
You can save your work by dragging the video from the "Record" (Red) window to the "Files" window.
A new file is created every time you save. Files cannot be overwritten. Only the selected tracks will be saved.
Autosave
Don't worry if you do not save your work before exiting Clesh - there is an autosave facility,
which keeps track of all the edits you make. The next time you log in, simply look for your file in the Autosave window
(icon with a cross). Drag it out of the autosave window and drop into the "Record" (Red) window to continue editing.
Collaborative editing
Videos edited in Clesh can be edited by anyone with the password to the particular account. You can also edit files saved on one computer
from another computer later on.
Colour Correction and Audio Levels
Colour correction is an option available within Clesh, to implement it right click on an area in the record (Red) window
and drag vertically to increase or decrease levels. This is dependent on which colour is selected in the record (Red) window.
For example if you select a black area on the picture the dark levels will be adjusted and selecting a white area on the picture will
adjust the light levels.
To see which clips have been affected with colour correction, right clicking on the video track icon at the right hand side of
the record timeline to bring up the colour correction track select button. If you left click on this button it will disable
the colour correction that has been added to the selected clip, left clicking again will re-able the colour correction.
Audio levels can be adjusted using Clesh. Alread mentioned previously is the active timeline audio fade tool that will allow
you to add fade in and fade outs. To adjust the audio levels more accurately right click on the audio level icon on the right hand
side of the record timeline. The audio level track select button should appear. Left clicking will disable any audio levels that
have been changed, right clicking on this button will bring up the audio levels, the purple window that opens shows the audio levels as they are
in the record timeline.
There are two ways to adjust the audio levels, firstly by left clicking on a audio point and dragging will allow you to move the location of the
audio level point on the audio track and also change the audio level itself. Black represents quiet while white represents loud. Red shows where the audio
is being clipped and should maybe be bought down. To delete an audio level point, right clicking will delete it while right clicking on the audio level where there
is no point will add a new one. You can also adjust an entire line by left clicking between two audio level points and dragging up or down to adjust a section.
Publishing
To publish a video, drag its icon from the "Files" window on to the Web (globe) or Mobile (phone) publishing icons. Web videos
can then be viewed from any web browser, and Mobile videos can be downloaded on to mobile phones.
Clesh web publishes your video and hosts it on the Internet. To publish a video, firstly, right click on the web publishing button and this
will bring up the publish settings in a seperate window. Here you can adjust the settings that include the pixel resolution (4x3 or 16x9),
the cropping of video and whether published videos should start playing when fully loaded or start paused.
Clesh mobile publishing currently works on Symbian v8.1 mobile phones. To export a video to the Clesh mobile player, left click and drag the
video from it's folder onto the icon. This like the web publishing will give you the list of files that have been published.
Once a file appears as 'Published' it is ready to be downloaded.
Chat
Clesh now boasts an integrated chat system that allows account users to chat
publicly between Clesh and FORscene account users, or privately between members of their own

in the window.
Machine specification
We recommend a 3GHz PC with 512MB RAM, though Clesh will work on less powerful computers. Clesh also runs on modern Macs and Linux. We will reduce the minimum spec needed over time.
Java
We recommend Java 1.4 or better as this supports good quality audio and nice icons. Clesh should still work with Java 1.1.
If you have any difficulties running Clesh in your web browser, please see our
Help with Java section.
Configuration
Clesh requires 256MB of Java memory to give you optimal performance. These instructions explain how to configure this.
Windows using Sun Java 1.5
Open the Control Panel (in start menu) and double click on the Java icon. Click the Java tab. In the "Java Applet Runtime Settings" click on "view." Set the java runtime parameters to "-Xmx256M"
Click OK, then OK again.

Right click Java icon (on the bottom right of the Desktop) -> "Open Control Panel" -> "Advanced". Type in: "-Xmx256M" into the "Java Runtime Parameters" box, then push the "Apply" button.
-
Mac System X using Sun Java 1.5
Open Macintosh HD -> "Applications" -> "Utilities" -> "Java" -> "Java Preferences". Then, on the (default) General tab, add into "Java Runtime Parameters": "-Xmx256M".
-
Mac System X using Sun Java 1.4
Open Macintosh HD -> "Applications" -> "Utilities" -> "Java" -> "Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings". Then, on the (default) General tab, add into "Java Runtime Parameters": "-Xmx256M".
These settings need to be added each time a new Java Version is installed. Ensure all versions of Java have the correct parameters. You then need to close all browsers and restart Clesh agian.
